Objective
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) celebrated its centenary in 2011. As part of the anniversary celebrations, HKU wanted to commemorate its rich history and showcase its research achievements.

Solution
We worked with HKU to create a custom-made collection of 23 research papers dating back to 1960, the year the university published its first paper in Nature. In addition, our writers and editors produced an original editorial feature introducing the history and development of HKU over the hundred years since its founding.

We also created a unique customized design for the table of contents and editorial pages to accompany the reprinted research papers. The collection included attractive, original images associated with the university campus and the activities of the university throughout its history. The collection carried joint Nature and HKU branding including the university’s official logo and theme colour.

HKU distributed the collection as part of its commemorative celebrations and continues to use it in its promotional activities.
